Be it taxes, insurance, government, birth, death, services, military complex, etc. This blog is a litany of all the things in this plane of existence that involve the Suck! The natural gas industry is offering up to $4,000 to $5,000 per acre to lease peoples land for horizontal drilling of natural gas. This sounds great the the poor land owners and they quickly sign the lease for the cash. So where is "the suck"? What the industry fails to tell these people (or they may in the fine print) is that they will be pumping thousands of gallons of a cocktail of toxic cancer causing chemicals into the ground under their property. These chemicals and the heavy metal released by the fracking are finding there way into the drinking water supply. So much so that some of these land owners can light their tap water on fire. Take a few minutes and watch an interview with Josh Fox and NOW on PBS <a href="http://www.gasland.us/wp/">http://www.gasland.us/wp/</a> .<br /><br />If you watched the entire interview you will have noted that Bush/Chaney made gas drilling exempt from EPA regulation and also the Clean Water Act. The Natural Gas companies are poisoning our ground water for a quick profit. Selling off the natural gas and leaving the toxic water and land with the property owners to deal with. This is indeed all about the suck. I first thought that the Coal industry generated the most suck with its mountaintop mining <a href="http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/09072007/watch3.html">http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/09072007/watch3.html</a> but now it's Natural Gas.<br /><br />The Clean Water Act needs to be enforced and the natural gas companies need to be regulated immediately. Horizontal drilling has been going on for ten years and is now in 36 states. Fresh water is by far our most valuable resource and it's being destroyed for a quick buck by the energy corporations leaving all of us with toxic water and cancer.
